S660 and S780 steel shot are extra-large steel shot abrasives designed for heavy-duty shot blasting, strong impact cleaning and surface preparation of large metal workpieces.
Compared with smaller steel shot sizes, S660 and S780 provide much higher impact force and deeper cleaning effect.
They are suitable for heavy castings, large steel structures, thick steel plates, heavy forgings and workpieces with severe sand residues, rust, scale or surface contamination.
Our steel shot is produced through melting, atomization, screening, heat treatment and quality inspection. The molten steel is atomized into spherical particles, then processed through controlled quenching and tempering to obtain suitable hardness, toughness and microstructure.
After heat treatment, the steel shot is screened into different sizes and tested for chemical composition, hardness, density, particle size distribution and internal defects. This process ensures consistent blasting performance and reliable batch quality for continuous production lines.
S660 and S780 steel shot provide very high impact energy during shot blasting.
They are suitable for heavy-duty cleaning applications where strong blasting force is required.
They can effectively remove:
· Heavy sand residues
· Thick oxide scale
· Rust
· Surface impurities
· Heat-treatment scale
· Old coating residues
These extra-large steel shot sizes are designed for large and heavy workpieces.
They can help improve cleaning speed and reduce blasting time when treating heavy castings, thick steel plates and large steel structures.
For production lines with high cleaning requirements, S660 and S780 steel shot can provide efficient and powerful surface cleaning performance.
S660 and S780 steel shot are recommended for workpieces with heavy rust, thick scale, strong surface contamination or difficult-to-remove sand residues.
Their large particle size and strong impact force make them suitable for rough cleaning and heavy surface preparation.
They are not usually recommended for thin, small or delicate parts because the impact force is very strong.
With controlled hardness, consistent particle size and stable chemical composition, S660 and S780 steel shot provide reliable blasting performance during continuous operation.
They help customers maintain stable cleaning quality in demanding industrial blasting processes.
S660 and S780 steel shot have good toughness, wear resistance and recyclability.
During repeated blasting cycles, they help reduce:
· Abrasive breakage
· Dust generation
· Excessive abrasive consumption
· Unstable cleaning results
This supports better cost control in heavy-duty surface treatment applications.

· Cleaning of heavy forged parts
· Cleaning of steel structures and thick steel plates
S660 steel shot is suitable for heavy-duty surface cleaning of large castings, thick steel parts and heavy machinery components.
It provides very strong impact force and is commonly used for heavy desanding, rust removal, scale removal and rough surface preparation before coating or painting.
S780 steel shot provides the strongest impact force among standard steel shot sizes.
It is recommended for large and heavy workpieces with severe sand residues, thick oxide scale, heavy rust or strong surface contamination.
S780 is suitable for demanding blasting applications where maximum cleaning power is required.

When using S660 and S780 steel shot, the workpiece size, material thickness, surface condition and blasting machine capacity should be considered. Because these sizes provide very high impact force, they are more suitable for large, thick and heavy workpieces.
They are not usually recommended for thin, small or delicate parts, as the strong impact may create excessive surface roughness or deformation. For heavy-duty cleaning and strong surface preparation, S660 and S780 are suitable choices.
The main difference between small-size and large-size steel shot is the impact force, surface coverage and final surface finish.
Small-size steel shot, such as S70, S110 and S170, provides finer surface coverage and a smoother blasting finish. It is suitable for small parts, thin workpieces, precision components and applications where lower impact force is required.
Large-size steel shot, such as S390, S460, S550, S660 and S780, provides stronger impact force and higher cleaning power. It is suitable for large castings, thick steel plates, steel structures and heavy workpieces with rust, scale, sand residues or severe surface contamination.
In general, smaller steel shot creates a smoother surface and is better for delicate parts. Larger steel shot removes contaminants faster and is better for heavy-duty shot blasting, but it may create a rougher surface profile.
